R&B pioneer Willie Mitchell has died:

Anthony “T-Bone” Bellamy, guitarist with Redbone ("Come and Get Your Love"), died Christmas morning in Las Vegas at the age of 63.

BIRTHDAYS:

Musician Earl Scruggs is 86. (Born 1924) He made up half of the legendary country duet Flatt and Scruggs ("Beverly Hillbillies Theme").

Singer Doris Troy ("Just One Look"), born in 1937.

MUSIC HISTORY:

1964: The Rolling Stones embarked on their first headlining tour in the UK.

1973: Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" hit number one on the pop singles chart. Mick Jagger sings background vocals on the song.

1976: Peter Frampton released the album Frampton Comes Alive.

1990: Figures were announced revealing that the Rolling Stones had grossed more than a 100-million-dollars on the "Steel Wheels" tour.

2002: Officials in Champaign, Illinois announced that the city was renaming a part of Main Street "REO Speedwagon Way," after the group.

2003: The estate of the late George Harrison sued a Staten Island doctor, claiming the physician forced the former Beatle to autograph a guitar even though he was dying of cancer.

2006: Lou Rawls died following a battle with brain and lung cancer. He was 72.

2006: The annual Elvis Presley birthday celebration began at Graceland in Memphis. The event launched a 20-month series of events honoring the 50th anniversary of Presley's rise to superstardom.

2007: Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band resumed its tour in Orlando, Florida, following a break for the holidays. The road trip was the first for the group since 1996.
